I think this may explain my car's latest 'illness.' Any suggestions on where to get it smoked, or alternative methods on figuring out exactly what may be leaking? I know it has a pretty bad exhaust leak, but something has gotten noticeable worse and sounds like near the intake manifold.

If it is an intake leak, use a propane torch (open the valve slightly and don't light it). If the propane gets near the leak for the intake, the revs will go up from the extra fuel. (seen this on shade tree mechanics or something)

I've heard of this method before.. and it scares me!

Right now I'm going to attribute it to bad gas and just pretend everything is fine (which it might be).

I have a few regular maintenance items on their way that may also help. A good flogging at autox on sunday will undoubtedly help me find the weak points, anyway Razz

Autox seems to cure all ills. Not only is it running better, but it seems to have mysteriously stopped leaking oil O.o

More realistically, I'm chalking most of it up to a bad fuel. It's still idling pretty poorly, so new plugs will be on the way and a few other miscellaneous things. I'm still a little mystified by the disappearing oil leak, however.

What about yours? Still waiting on parts?

It just needed to swap ends a few times, that's all. Smile

Big mess!! It's back in the shop after having it for the weekend. Put 35 miles on it and the sc belt broke or shredded. Need a new tensionor and belt plus there is some fluid leaking in the front. Not a great start to the week. Crying or Very sad
